Hawk Measurement Systems receives the Zenith award for its successful ORCA Sonar project in a wastewater treatment plant in WA

Hawk, an Australian manufacturer and global provider of level, positioning and flow measurement technology, received the Zenith “highly recommended award” in the Water & Wastewater category.  

The PACE Zenith Awards were established by Process and Control Engineering (PACE) magazine in 2004 to publicly-recognize and reward companies that show leadership in engineering and technological excellence and innovation.

This year, over 200 engineers and technicians gathered at Sydney's Dalton House the 18^th of June. A record 54 of our industry's best projects were chosen as finalists across 9 categories. 

Hawk Measurement received the Zenith award for its Orca Sonar Sludge Blanket project at Woodman Point WWTP Munster in Western Australia. The Orca Sonar system is developed to detect the fine ‘flocc’ layer in SSTs as well as a thicker sludge layer at the tank bottom. Previously, the staff checked the blanket levels manually. This was an extremely time-consuming exercise and was not carried out routinely because of this. Provision of an online blanket sensor now enables the operators to see how the blanket falls during every cycle and make adjustments to operating parameters to ensure the settle and decant operations do not cause solids to rise into the decanted effluent.
